My Journey

My own births have taken place in many places with many providers. I was forced into an induction with my first and coerced into multiple unnecessary interventions. I remember the experience as deeply humiliating. It was from this birth that I understood the intimidation and violence that occurs in delivery rooms all across the world, every single day.

I then went on to have hospital births with midwives, searching long and hard for providers I felt I could trust. While these hospital births were unmedicated and mostly intervention-free, I had spent so much energy advocating for myself that I couldn’t fully appreciate the wonder of the experiences that had taken place. I could recognize, in my own experiences as well as in others, that hospitals operate out of a place of fear, and a mistrust of women’s bodies.

After my youngest was peacefully born at home, I began to attend midwifery skills workshops and began assisting at births in my community. Later in that year I began an official midwifery apprenticeship. I am blessed to have been able to train under two of the most experienced and respected midwives in Georgia. During my apprenticeship I attended over 160 births and well over a thousand prenatal and postpartum appointments.

Throughout my training I gained extensive knowledge and skills in prenatal care, childbirth, and postpartum support. I aim to provide holistic, family-centered care, always emphasizing the importance of informed decision making, and supporting the natural processes of pregnancy and birth.

My goal is to give women options, to help them tap into their own power. I firmly believe birth belongs to women and families and we have the power to take it back. To bring it home where it belongs. To birth with dignity. Women matter, our experience matters, and our safety matters. We deserve to have choices in our care.
